This invisible force can be powerful and destructive; but it can also be harnessed to generate clean electric power. Wind turbines with long propeller blades, erected in clusters, or wind farms, can be used to replace coal and oil fired plants that are belching pollution into the atmosphere. Farmers living near these turbines are voicing concerns about noise and hazards to birds and planes. In Manitoba the wind farms are being built one kilometer away from residences, so that noise and vision obstructions will be negligible.

Slowing the Warming

Warming of the atmosphere could be slowed down…but it would be expensive and it could have side affects.
The process would involve sending reflective material into the atmosphere, such as sulphur or aerosols that would send the sun’s radiation back into space.
This happened when Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991.
